Feminist Supper Club, in support of Imkaan

Please join us on Wednesday 24th April 2019 for the second annual Feminist Supper Club from HABFEMSOC, to raise vital funds for Black feminist organisation Imkaan. The event is generously supported by Bleecker Burger.

We have curated an empowering line-up of performers and speakers, who will share their stories of Feminist Activism. Hear from the incredible Miss Yankey, Performance Poet and founder of Poetry Prescribed, who will perform her captivating spoken word. She will be joined by Seyi Newell, founder of TRiBE, which creates and provides innovative personal development and leadership programmes that encourage and empower Black women; and Anna Bull, senior lecturer in sociology at the University of Portsmouth and a founding member of The 1752 Group, an activist group tackling sexual harassment in higher education. We, the students of HABFEMSOC, will also perform our own popular spoken word.

After we hear from our speakers, we will enjoy delicious Bleecker food and continue the discussion over drinks. Thanks to this generous contribution from Bleecker, all proceeds from tickets sales will go directly to Imkaan, which is the only UK-based, second-tier women's organisation dedicated to addressing violence against Black and minoritised women and girls. HABFEMSOC has chosen to support this vital organisation because their work resonates with our own personal experiences, and we believe that women should be given a platform to voice their feelings and the current day-to-day struggles that women experience.

There will also be an exciting array of HABFEMSOC merchandise for guests to purchase on the night and raise further funds for Imkaan.
